Differences in perception in children with ADHD

by Tina Cummings

Created on: September 14, 2010

My daughter was kicked out of 4 schools before the age of 6.  ADHD is more acceptable in boys that girls.  Here are some of the facts.

One school was upset because my daughter scratched a child on the neck.  Let me ask you a question.  If you were eating your lunch in the lunchroom at the age of 41, and some guy came and pulled your chair out from under you, would you be wrong to slap him?

Just some food for thought.

How would you feel if you brough doughnuts for the whole office, and you got in trouble for not sending an e-mail out quickly enough.

As punishment, you must now sit and watch everyone eat the doughnuts you brought, but you can't have one.

Now ponder this.  You are anxious to show your boss the work papers you have been working on all night long.

A co-worker comes up behind you, and grabs your papers and rips them to shreds.
Do you still think it's easy being a child with ADHD?  Have you ever wanted to slap someone for treating you infairly or teasing you or bullying you or name calling?  Oh well, your papers are ruined.  It was the boss's son, so it's too bad too sad for you.

Welcome to the world of a child with ADHD.  The kids that recognize there is a problem in society.  A society where kids are killing kids because adults are too busy to teach social skills, and children are too little to teach themselves.

Lets just put the one that looks bad on Ritalin, and ignore the instigator.  The instigators are the ones you'd better watch out for.

The ones who have functioning alcoholics for mothers.  The mothers who are rich, and are on the PTA.

They are the ones that will struggle in the long run.  So don't worry about my little Suzy on the Ritalin.  Worry about your little Johny who got away with picking and teasing and provoking, and nothing was done because you are rich/have a high seat on the PTA.

The ones that buy the teachers everything, including their way.  Little Suzy may not grow up to be the tyrant everyone things she will.

Maybe it will be the one that got his way all the time - - -until - - - one day . . . . . . .
