Meaning of Life - Is like Beauty, In the eye of the beholder. And if you have one or two black eyes perhaps from a fight you may not be beholding too much beauty in life ergo very little meaning. Just undergone eye surgery and can again see clearly, life's meaning is again rosy and if you are growing the roses life's meaning may be thorny.
Each of us has a perspective on any of the above therefore get a different meaning of life in each of these and other circumstances. It has been said pain is natures way of letting us know we are still alive. So the pain of the black eye can bring joy. The joy of being alive. You may have been killed in the accident from whence came the shiners; joy for myself because, "Hey these are not my black eyes", I did not crash my car in that fight with the concrete barrier.
To be made whole again, to see again, clearly and able to view all the wonders around you was accomplished with eye surgery. Problem is for a short time you may have one or two black eyes. The world may razz you with; "Hey how bad is the other guy?", or "run into a door?". Again the joy for me; I can rag on my co-worker alluding to his wife finally letting him have it. Joy again for me in that it is not I taking the kidding.
Or the bad eyes could have been caused by growing roses. They can be very beautiful adding to a colorful surrounding adding to a more pleasant meaning of life, Beauty. But no! You grow these babies and a branch snapped back while checking for bugs and disease on you prized beauties and wham a thorn swats the eye. Another black eye. This is why I don't grow flowers, in particular roses. Too many thorns.
So what does all of this have to do with "The Meaning of Life", I guess nothing, except it makes me enjoy being me and not having all of these happen to me. You see there is no meaning to life unless you want to consider becoming fertilizer in the end to help grow the roses. Each living thing helps other living things continue to thrive by becoming food or nourishment. I am certain while being on the green side of the grass life will continue to have meaning by whatever perspective. On the other side under the grass there is no meaning, there is nothing.
So be glad you have the pain, can see the black eyes, and be able to smell the roses.
