Astro Empires is a web based strategy browser game. Players in Astro Empires control planets or “Astros.” Through construction of structures, technology, and ship building players advance through the game as they attempt to dominate the galaxy. Alliances can be formed with other players since going it alone is not recommended.

Review:

There are many web based strategy games online and Astro Empires takes you to space to control your own planet or Astro. You start with one planet but as you play you can add more until you have your own little empire. You’ll find several tings to do on your Astros and one of those is to build structures. You will have buildings that improve your economy, allow for the research of technology, as well as open up new building spots with terraforming. Each Astro will also need power with solar or gas plants as well as urban structures for population. As you build up and acquire new Astros you can open up trade routes and make even more credits for your growing empire. The game features plenty of structure to keep you occupied as you expand.

Each Astro also has defensive structures such as barracks, missile turrets, plasma turrets and other defensive buildings. These defenses will help to protect your Astro from attack by other players as you build up. Ships play a major part of Astro Empires and you’ll find plenty of ships to build such as cruisers, destroyers, fighters, frigates, carriers for fighters, and battleships. As you develop your shipyards and research facilities more ships will become available to build but you’ll also need to develop technology too.

Astro Empires features a good technology tree with various technologies you can research which will unlock all the ships in the game. Technologies include computers, armor, missiles, lasers, warp drives and shielding to name but a few. On some Astros you may do just technology upgrades while others you might devote to just ship building, the choice is yours. Each technology has a level which can be upgraded to further enhance the economy or military aspects of your empire. Players are encouraged to join alliances since it would be near impossible to succeed in the game as a lone gun. You can trade with your alliance partners and improve your economy as well as help each other out in battles.

Astro Empires is a fun game and well worth playing. Recently the game went through some upgrades and more graphics are now included such as ship models which improves game play. Astro Empires has been around for quite a while and is one of the better text and graphics based browser games. You an also get a premier account which will remove the advertising in the game. Be sure to use the fourms and building tables in the game if you need any help playing this great strategy game.
