He stood there looking at me,
not an emotion on his face.
His fists were clenched,
his body was strained.
Sweat formed on his brow,
he tried to find the strength.
He took a breath and let it out.
He spoke those unforgiving words.
A twisted lies he choked to utter.
I couldn't make them out,
everything was fading.
I could hear a fly passing,
fluttering in slow motion.
His voice,
Slow and steady.
He never blinked.
My heart was pounding,
I could feel it in my throat.
My breath. . .
short and incomplete.
Slower and slower,
until the world just stopped.
I began to break,
to melt away.
Like a dream,
it was surreal.
Further and further I slipped.
With every word I died again.
The content of the words?
I couldn't say.
I didn't understand.
I only knew it was good bye.
Nothing mattered,
I didn't need a reason.
Just like that my world stood still.
Frozen in that day.
A state of suspension,
Suspended animation.
Forever on that day.
So here I remain,
waiting for him to take them back.
Those words...
those bitter words that left me in this state,
forsaken and cold.
I've lost my function,
I can not move,
all I do is wait.
Suspended animation.
Until my heart unbreaks.
Until I awake.

Eulogy for the Body I Left Hanging in the Garden
If I could, I would remember
your face. But I have forgotten
the sweet touch
I am in a state of
Suspended animation.
My life is at a standstill,
Stagnant and inert.
How do I lift myself
From this state
