Why don't young people go to church?
Probably we will find there are a number of reasons, and, at the forefront of this conundrum is the blatant failure of their parents, the local fellowships, to give them access to the real God, rather than the hypocritical, fragmented, paltry excuse for a god most denominations offer.
Let's consider the situation from a youth's perspective.
When a growing child witnesses the dishonesty, immorality, lack of all integrity displayed by their peers, politicians, church leaders, the business corporate sharks, how could any sane citizen imagine we are setting examples through which our children are encouraged to want to know the God we profess to serve, nor to emulate our poor behaviour?
Let us be brutally honest. Our society, our churches, do not, in any way, provide positive, edifying examples of what morality, integrity and Christian character should be, as examples of the means to maintain a sane, humane society.
Our leaders, in all fields, are constantly being found guilty of gross dishonesty, blatant hypocrisy, inhumanity, immorality, and, tragically, claiming Christian standards, upbringing and beliefs. "I never had sex with that woman." America's recent president; "Our economic stimulus will save America from total economic collapse." a prominent servant of the W.M.F.
In Australia we now have a Prime Minister who is an atheist lesbian and the leader of the senate is a blatant homosexual. What sort of examples are these to encourage our children to even consider God as an option.
The pope recently apologized for a tiny percentage of the sexual exploitation of children perpetrated by the priests, bishops and nuns of the r.c. cult, through the last 1600 years, though there has been little or no compensation, for a tiny, disproportionate select few.
Also our children are reading of the legalization of abortions, homosexuality, every form of perversity, and they are incapable of equating what they witness on the t.v. news, the mass killings, gangland slayings, (Mexican drug wars, Iran, Afghanistan) racial prejudices, embezzlement; the bankers committing horrific thefts of the taxpayers money, only to be protected from punishment for their crimes by the very politicians and church leaders who are supposed to be protecting the citizens, not the criminals.
Why don't young people go to church?
Because they continuously witness the hypocricy of the religious fraternities, the confusing, incomprehensible divisions, diversity
