Who is to blame for our society’s quagmire?  Forced to take political sides, must there be blame cast?  Might we look at the citizens? Do they have no role in this?   And by citizens I do not imply political affiliations but the classes, rich, richer, middle, lower and poverty levels.

Some would say the upper classes have control of the economy.  As we look at society as a whole, would it not be safe to say we are an obsessed people, in search of monetary or asset importance?  Forgetting family values and looking to make the most for less.  Children are primarily ignored, what values are we as the adult citizens emulating for our next generation?

I blame the greediness of corporate executives; it does take only a few bad apples to make a mess of the economy.  How about Enron?  How about inflated home prices to make more commission on mortgages?  How about overcharging for a .42 cent pill being sold for 4.20?  How about the bankrupt family, that has no financial clue living on the edge of homelessness.  That same family having all the latest technology gadgets, iPods, dads, pcs, iPhones, plugged into the car, mobile, school, work, to be on the cutting edge and keeping time with the Jones.  The family that lives on credit because it is easier then pinching a penny.

I blame the government as a whole, no matter what party is in office. Government offices are top heavy in management, waste vast amounts of time deciding simple matters.   In turn, lower level employees and contractors take an exuberant amount of time to implement any decision made, in most cases.

I blame the government for not ensuring that the manufacturing industry was not maintained in the United States.   Allowing the import trade to exceed the export trade, who allowed that to happen?  When was the last time you purchased a can opener made in the U. S. of A.?

Maybe if everyone tried to be thrifty, go a little green and make smart decisions regarding use of funds.

Must we ask who is to blame?   Let us each take responsibility for our country’s future and do our part to pinch a penny, work smarter not harder, and to reward good work done – verbally.  Praise goes a long way with employees of the correct character.   Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country?
