It was dark at night
When Trooper Blanton pulled him over.
The man’s tags didn’t match
So they stopped along the shoulder.
“Where you from?” asked the cop.
“Oh I live here,” Edwardo Wong replied.
“Where’d you come from before?”
That’s when the evil man lied.
“Sir, sit in my squad car and let me talk to you”
“Let me check out your story to make sure it’s true.”
That was when Edwardo pulled out his gun
That was when Trooper Blanton didn’t have a chance to run.
One shot was fired
And another was heard,
Then a dying man’s voice
And then came the third.
The dying man lay bleeding
And for his life was pleading,
Had a wife and a child
But Edwardo Wong was wild.
Then Wong stole the man’s gun
The dying officer couldn’t run.
That day made more than just the widow cry
The day Trooper Shawn Blanton did die.

This is a letter to no one

Many like me die each day
