In the state of New Jersey, which is known as the Garden State, you can still find quite a few farmers markets to visit, despite the growth of housing developments. Fresh produce is available, except in the winter, and the vegetables and fruit that are prevalent will not disappoint consumers who take the time to shop at the farmers market in the Fall.

Fall Items to For Purchase

Local farmers display an array of Fall vegetables from broccoli and cabbage to the various types of squash and gourds which can be purchased for a minimum fee at the farmers market. Wheat shocks, bales of hay, pumpkins and gourds are also used for decorating this time of year and are available for purchase at the local farmers market in the Fall. You will find wonderful succulent red and yellow apples, fresh off the trees, to purchase to make turnovers, fresh applesauce and apple cider. These culinary delights are also sold already made at the local farmers market in the Fall.

Heavenly Aromas

Some of the farmers markets in New Jersey have food stands were the local Amish or Mennonites sell their wares. Fresh made sausage cooking on stoves fills the air mixed with hot apple pie and roasting chestnuts. The late summer produce freshly canned and a treat to the palate are on display for purchase. Cookies, cranberry breads, and spice cakes, baked on the premises filled with fresh cracked pecans or walnuts tempt you as you stroll by their stands beckoning you to make a purchase. Yes, wonderful smells can be found at a farmers market in the Fall.

A Shoppers Haven

At the larger farmers markets, like the one in Columbus, New Jersey, off of route 206, you can find handmade quilts and wood carvings to decorate your home and ward of the coming winter chill. Scarves, hats, and mittens are also sold in the Fall to help prepare you for the snow that is to come. While visiting this particular farmers market in the Fall, you want to take your time to enjoy all that it has to offer in the way of produce, groceries, clothing, and miscellaneous items.

Visiting a farmers market in the Fall is quite an adventure and an outing for the whole family to enjoy no matter what state you live in. If it is to pick out a pumpkin or fresh cranberries and apples you won't be disappointed going to the farmers market in the Fall.
