Man is the only animal that deals in that atrocity of atrocities, War. He is the only one that gathers his brethren about him and goes forth in cold blood and calm pulse to exterminate his kind. He is the only animal that for sordid wages will march out…and help to slaughter strangers of his own species who have done him no harm and with whom he has no quarrel ... and in the intervals between campaigns he washes the blood off his hands and works for "the universal brotherhood of man" — with his mouth.” (Twain).
War is an inescapable sad truth in our world. Humans have waged war for as long as history has been recorded. War brings pain, suffering, and it stops the spread of prosperity of a society dead in its tracks. War is not simply fighting and death. Not only does this remove obstacles, fear strikes any other opposition. If humans didn’t want control, our world would be completely different. This need gives us ambition so our society may not even have been anywhere near the progress that we have achieved today. One can not dwell on the prospect of some other universe where humans lack the need to control as a possibility of war becoming obsolete. Instead we must take a long look at not only our society, but our world. Until every individual can grasp the truth about the world around us we are still lost, and there lies the problem. We accept what we are taught with no questions asked. We are brought up to think that the government and media are always correct, and wouldn’t dare lie to us. This is a product of decades of submission resulting
