Worship of God and God's Word
It was God's prerogative to create us to fellowship with Him. You will find what He said when He created us in Genesis 2:27.
Man was created for God's glory, to fellowship with God and to worship Him. He is Father God and he bids us to "come unto Him and to abide in Him." We show our gratitude and honor of God when we worship Him. Our highest aim should be to have a relationship with God, Our Father. It is our choice to surrender our will and allow God to be the master of our lives. Relinquishing our personal desires for God's desire and purpose for our life takes precedence. All our faculties are focused on God and our perception of Him is heightened to another level. God's Word, The Bible, is our guide to know His will. We are obedient to the Word of God, which means we consult His Word on a regular basis and we are indwelled by His Holy Spirit. Choosing to worship God runs alongside of The Bible (guidebook) for living in obedience to His Word. This means we revere His Word because it connects us to him (God).
Worship of God is our privilege. We owe Him honor and we owe Him worship. His Word is a "lamp unto our feet," and a guide for our earthly existence, which makes us at-one with God. Why is it a choice? When Satan entered the picture at the point when Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, we (God's creation) became estranged from God because sin entered the world. Worship of God and acceptance of our sin substitute (Jesus Christ), His Son, puts us back into relationship with God. We worship Him and we are in contact with Him through His Word (The Bible). The two cannot be separated and done exclusive of the other. The Bible says, "Study to show thyself approved unto God."
God sent Jesus Christ, His Son to die for our sins. We owe God everything. Worship gives us greater sensitivity and humility and we cannot enjoy the peace of God without a worship experience with Him because we live, move and have our being because of our respect of our creation.
Worship of God is a choice. Choice includes The Bible, which we hold in high esteem because without The Word how would one know whether he was operating in accordance to the explicit Word of God.
We worship God and The Bible gives us instruction as to how to worship God. In the Old Testament as well as the New Testament we are given clear information as to what is expected of us as worshipers. For example, the priests in the Old Testament were instructed how to prepare a sacrifice. If you look in the book of Deuteronomy you will find clear instructions are given for worship preparation, such as priest attire, preparation of the sacrifice, and who was to perform certain tasks. Someone could die if these tasks for worship were not performed according to God’s guidelines. In the New Testament, we are instructed how to pray. We are to ask our petitions In the Name of Jesus. We are given a model prayer so we know what to include in our prayers. We say this because to worship God is to need and to revere The Bible. You need The Bible to worship God properly.
