Essays: Drug addiction

Where does it stop with this monster of hell called addiction?  The monster that ruins every part of life and hurts those who care for the person suffering from addiction.  It is of a self-centered behavior that has no boundaries and causes some of the most destructive consequences.  A person suffering from addiction will do anything to get their fix, whether it illegal drugs or drinking alcohol and stealing money to get their high or low.  How can addiction be so powerful that people with families, people who are well off and live great lives, mothers, fathers, husbands, and wife's to name a few important people in ones life, become and addict?  That can be answered by only those living life aided by addiction.

The excuses for those who choose addiction as their functional means of living life are not capable of realizing the damage they are causing to their bodies.  The means of this is buried deep inside the brains sensory areas and the chemical dopamine, which drops or raises significantly fast to achieve ones high. The first high is the best and is what the person addicted chases after each time they get high afterward.  Heroin addicts are known to drop down and experience a high unlike nothing else, but they will always say every high afterwards is nothing compared to that first high.

Addiction is similar whether the drug of choice is alcohol, marijuana, heroin, cocaine, or Valium the factors are all the same with each addict, chemical dependency is their way of life and no other lifestyle matters.  Is it their fault?  Yes, significantly yes, but how do they become sober and regain their lives?  They never do, but with admitting their addiction and getting treatment the addiction can be significantly treated properly and what is left of their lives could be regained.  The cravings are going to be hell, physical just as much as mental addiction is part of all the addictive drugs, but time can heal wounds although scars will always exist.

Life will move forward and life will either stop quickly from the addiction or addiction can be fought and lives can be regained.  The good inside of everyone exists whether or not others can see it because the addiction hides the person their family and friends once knew.  We are not suppose to judge those who are struggling, but addiction is hard not to judge those living with this monster because they chose this type of life, we must only support them and try to get them to stop.
