The HouDeani is a modified highball with origins to a group of friends in Southwestern British Columbia Canada. Together they created the Dean Scene, which is anywhere Deans are served, creating a culture around the beverage. Slick Jazz music, and loads of creative conversation are mandatory for the consumption of Deans of any Colour. This is a drink to have fun with, a highball with class (and class schedules), it goes down like candy and leaves us begging for Double Deans. So grab a HouDeani, sit back in your local piano bar and chill to the sultry sounds of intelligence and Nora Jones sound-alikes.

Where a true Dean is made with Root Beer, most bars and pubs seem to be limited in their Root Beer supply, so Cola was introduced as a substitute. The HouDeani is the result, and tastes astoundingly like Dr. Pepper and Cola Bottle gummies.

Ingredients: 

1 oz. Amaretto

1 oz. Crown Royal

Cola to fill

Cola Bottle Gummy

Tools:

Highball Glass

Ice

Straw

Knife (For cutting a slit in the Candy Garnish)

Fill the Highball glass 1/2 full with ice. Pour in the shot of Amaretto and the shot of Crown Royal. Give it a stir, then fill to the top with Cola. A proper HouDeani garnish is a Cola Bottle gummy, slit in the middle and slipped onto the rim of the glass. Serve with a straw and a refill policy. Deans of any Colour are addictive and fun, a deceptively potent beverage, where the alcohol content is hidden by the sweetness and sugar of the cola. Stir often, laugh a lot and bring up that piece of art you saw (even if it was the chick on TV), discuss that favourite band's last album and don't be shy to join the Dean Scene.

Pitchers of HouDeani can be made in advance of a Dean Scene Party by counting out five shots each of the liquor, and filling the rest with Cola. Just make sure a stir stick is involved! The alcohol has a tendency to fall to the bottom.
