The moon, fat in the sky, pale and forlorn
Tribute to an empty world, song of nothing
The bulbous night-light beckons my soul
Calls out to me, distant whispers on the air
The night is a cloak upon my shoulders
I wear it well, it is my second skin, fits me
Ethereally I float upon the moonlight, glide
Reaching heights never before reached
Darkness knows no boundaries, it devours
Shields me from the longing and loneliness
Washes away, renews, refreshes, livens
I am one with the night-tide, riding the waves
Shadows are tenebrous, indistinct forms lurk
They bow to me, I am the Queen of the Night
Reigning supreme, I am transported, muted
The black depths are the depths of my soul
I gaze into the mirror and behold a twin, mate
I am at home in the night world, it welcomes me
Fleeing from the light of day, the fear, pain
I anticipate, waiting, hoping, willing it near
When it arrives, it always does, my blanket
I am comforted, shielded, enveloped by truth
