Air like tar
No way to close my ears
The relentless drone of a fan in a room too cold
No way to turn it off
My mouth a rash
A puddle of coke on the floor

My body glued beneath my duvet
Sweat streaked hair
My eyes like darting butterflies
entombed in my favorite place
A single drop escapes
It hangs there suspended
But I can't let go
