Top 10 Keith Urban songs

by Marla Hansen

Created on: September 08, 2010

There is no denying Keith Urban is one of country music’s favorite sons. Ask any fan of this music genre what they think of the New Zealander and you are sure to hear words like, nice guy, awesome singer, gorgeous and love the accent. All of those observations would be correct. Ask those same fans what their favorite Keith Urban song is and some of the same titles will be named again and again.

Somebody Like You ~  Who wouldn’t love this song? Listening to Keith Urban crooning this happy tune about finding perfect love just makes you want to sing along while swaying in the arms of that Somebody Like You.  When asked about the meaning behind the song, Urban is quoted at www.keithurbanmates.net as saying "What I like too about that is that you can read into the double meaning of the line, "I want to love somebody like you.” At the time I wrote it, I really had people who loved me and I wanted to love myself like they did. So, 'I want to love somebody like you' means I want to love somebody the way you love somebody. It took on a stronger meaning."

Once In A Lifetime ~ With the upbeat tune so typical of many of Keith Urban’s songs, this favorite is sure to weaken the knees of anyone listening for the first time. It takes the listener from the beginning of a romance all the way to what the perfect ending will be like. Breaking the record for the highest debuting country single in Billboard’s sixty-two year history, Once In A Lifetime made it’s debut at #17 on the country charts.

I Told You So ~ This song does a great job of reminding us that the grass is not always greener on the other side. With lyrics about love, forgiveness and moving forward, it’s the perfect way to make up and move on. Not surprisingly, I Told You So is one of Urban’s seventeen number one singles.

Making Memories Of Us ~ The smooth richness of Urban’s voice combined with the heartfelt lyrics written by Rodney Crowell, who wrote this for his wife, makes it easy to understand why this number one single remains a fan favorite today. Written and sung from a man’s point of view, Making Memories Of Us honors men who love their women. It’s a perfect wedding or anniversary song, even mentioning the role parents play in relationships.

You'll Think Of Me ~ Urban sings of love lost in this touching song. You can hear the pain of a love that leaves but also the resolve of a man committed to going on with his life. One of the best
