Flipping out
Mark ran into the room, swiping his badge just a second before hitting the press bar on the door. “Is it true? I just heard from the tech guys up stairs.”
Jason Waters leaned on his palms, staring blankly at the monitor. “God help us if it is. Two recon birds picked up the anomaly about a half hour ago, but we don’t have satellite conformation yet.”
Mark rushed to the monitor and turned to the screens on the wall. “Holy s*t, it’s happening. It’s really happening. I never thought I’d see the day.” He moved slowly past the screens and peered at the numbers as they scrolled down before him. “Jason, where’s Bill? We need to get him up here right now. If we’re going to have any chance of – if we’re going to make it through this, we need all the info we can get.”
Jason grabbed the phone. “Mary, call an all-hands in the observation room. I need all the heads of departments, oh and get the entire Geo group too.” He looked at Mark, “Done. Do I need to send word to the top?”
Mark shook his head. “No, not yet. There’re going to want details, and as of this moment, I have none.” He walked back to the monitor as doors across the back of the room opened and people flooded in on the lower deck.
Jason walked to the top step and clapped his hands. “Alright everyone, quiet down. Now as you may or may not know, global earthquakes and heavy flooding have been rapidly increasing over the past few months. With that said, there have been numerous speculations on why, but it has all been only speculation – until now.” He paused as the crowd of people mumbled quietly. “Professor Mark Driggers has studied paleomagnetics for quite a long time and - well I’ll let him tell you.” He looked at Mark. “You have the floor.”
He moved up the rail and looked down at the wondering
