Is Christianity failing God? The answer to this question depends largely on what you consider to be Christianity. Many things that are called Christian today do not meet the biblical definition of the term.
In order to truly define what a Christian is, we need to look at how the term was used in scripture. The first occurrence of the term is found in Acts chapter eleven. The believers were called Christians first at Antioch. The biblical understanding of the word Christian is to be Christ-like. This would mean the Christianity would be a group of people who are Christ-like.
There are many churches today that call themselves Christian when they are not very Christ-like. Any church that teaches that Jesus was anything other than the Son of God is not truly a Christian church. Any church that chooses to ignore the teaching of Christ is not a Christian church in the biblical sense.
There are many churches today that have taken the philosophy that the Bible is antiquated and that God is not the same as he was in the days when the Bible was written. The Bible tells us that, “God is not a man that He should change.” It also tells us the God is, “the same yesterday, today, and forever.” If God does not change and we choose to ignore His teachings, then we can not truly call ourselves Christian.
Now back to the original question. True Christianity has not failed God. There are many things that are called Christianity that have failed God, but as I have pointed out, these things are not true Christianity.
I believe that we as Christians sometimes do fail God. We are not perfect and there are going to be times when we will fail to do what God has told us to do. The Christian thing to do at this point is to confess ours sins and repent of them and try not to make the same mistake again. There may be times when we fail God in the same way over and over again, but as long as we are repenting and confessing our sins, we are staying in a proper relationship with God and can justify calling ourselves Christians.
Is Christianity failing God? The answer is that true Christianity is not failing God. There are many things that are called Christianity that are failing God, and sometimes we as Christians will fail God, but Christianity as a whole is not failing God.
