Alone on the inside,
quietly I wait.
Like a child longing to be held,
I wait to be heard.
Words can not convey what the heart has held,
buried deep beneath the layers.
If wishes could speak my pain would fly off.
Like a tiny bird trapped in his mouth,
my soul is bruised.
The darkness knows what the light has hidden,
my eyes are but a reflection of time.
Standing still as my heart breaks,
running still as my soul cries out.
Alone on the inside,
I wait.
