When many people think of New York, they think of the Big Apple but there is a lot more to New York state than just one city. There is the Hudson River Valley, The Adirondacks, The Finger Lakes and Niagara Falls. When you are thinking about visiting The Empire State, you will want to find the best New York travel websites to help you with your planning. Here are a few of the best.

I Love NY   

I Love New York is the Official website for New York State Travel and Tourism. This slogan is well known in most of the northeast along with their catchy theme song  from their television advertisements.  The first thing that catching your eye when you go to their website is the video promoting their new ad campaign which features such well known New Yorkers as Rachael Ray and Alec Baldwin. They certainly know how to promote their state.

There are some beautiful pictures on the home page but no slide show. Across the top of the site are the tabs that will take you further into the website.  You can choose from What to Do, Where to Stay, Cities and Towns, Find Deals, Plan Your Trip and About the State.  On the right center of the homepage there is a link that says get brochures, which is self explanatory.

By clicking on Cities and Towns you go to a new page where you see the heading So Many Places to Love. There is a map of the state of New York divided into regions. Below  the map there is a listing of popular destinations in the state of New York including Saratoga, Ithaca and Niagara Falls among others. There is also a search option if the city or town you are interested in is not included on the list.

Clicking on Itaca takes you to a new page with a great picture of what looks like Main Street, a short article about and then more tabs that can take you to new pages about what is near by, where to stay and eat and what to do.

I Love NY is a great website. Beautifully done and easy to use. If you can’t find somewhere in the state that is the  perfect vacation destination then nowhere in the world will please you.  I rate this website excellent.

Canals NY

New York State is the home of the Erie Canal as well as three other canals. This website is a great introduction to using a canal system in the state as part of your vacation experience. There are links to Land and Water Itineraries,  Boat Rentals, Boating on the Canals and Calendar of Events to just mention a few.  You have all the tools you need to
