One of the many benefits of writing for Helium is the opportunity to write in several different channels. Clicking on those channels and exploring the different parts within them uncovers many different subjects and topics.

Learning which area of Helium suits the style in which you write is not something that is discovered straight away. This can take a little time and with some exploring, research and more writing, there are some factors that can give a Helium member a good indication of which area suits a writer’s particular style.

Below are some suggestions on how to discover your suited areas on the Helium.com:

• It’s great to stay with what you know and assist others to gain the information they need with your own personal experience or expertise, but it’s also good to branch out and test yourself a little by writing to other areas of Helium. With some good research and a little extra time, you may discover you have a particular writing strength in an area you were not aware of.

• Keeping an eye on ratings in the channels you write to is a good indicator of strength. Although the rating can fluctuate or diminish, there comes a time where your article will find its place and stick there. If you’re article is highly rated (although not necessarily in the number one position), then you’re doing a fantastic job in this area.

• Earnings per article can also give a good indication of where your writing style is suited. Although this may not be a number one factor in deciding what area suits your style.  Many things can impact earnings.

• Have you ever typed your pen name into Google and found your articles on other websites or being tweeted. This is an excellent indicator. Obviously you’ve written a particular article that’s been noticed by someone else enough for them to want to share it. This can happen to any one of your articles and can sometimes the topics others share on your behalf can be surprising even to you.

• Sometimes comments and feedback is also a good indicator of which area you should write to. There are some great people on Helium who can usually give you a good idea of what channels clearly display your strong writing skills.

The above are some suggestions about how to recognise the area that suits your style.  As mentioned earlier, keeping with what you know is great but trying something different is always good and can be surprisingly beneficial.
