Poetry: My dark side

She Becomes Me

Inside of me

Buried deep

Is another me

I try and keep her in

I tell her when she peeks out

That I am a mother

A lover

A sister

I make her go back inside

And I stifle her

Tell her not to come out

That she is not me

Sometimes she makes a run for it

And she becomes me

The darker me

The other me

The one that throws back tequilla

Runs naked through the grass

Laughs to loud

Stays out to late

The one who is capable

Of breaking a heart

The darker me

The other me

I stifle her

I make her go back

Until I am me once again

The me that I should be

Somehow though I am so afraid

That one day all too soon

The other me

Will never again be seen

And I will remain

Simply me
