A bridal bouquet of snow white roses and lilies of the valley highlighted with sprigs of baby’s breath and greenery is a classic accent to any wedding gown no matter what season you choose to get married.
If you and your betrothed decide to stage your wedding against an autumn backdrop of nature’s splendor, then consider selecting a foral bouquet to match the season and bring the colors of fall into your wedding venue.
Standard autumn flowers include chrysanthemums and marigolds with their deep rich colors of burgundy, gold and orange. Don’t limit your flower choices to a few familiar buds. Instead consider mixing three large Calla Lilly blossoms and hydrangeas amid a selection of poms and frothy football mums to create a unique, fall inspired bouquet.
If you want to think outside the traditional bridal bouquet of roses and baby’s breath, you are limited only by your imagination. Intersperse your brilliant mum and pom floral accents with wheat stems to symbolize the gathering of the harvest that takes place during the waning days of summer and into the frosty, crisp days of autumn.
Still thinking traditional roses for your wedding flowers? Think again.
Soak dried corn husks in warm water and a cap of bleach for several hours. Allow to dry. This may take several days, depending on the humidity in your area of the country. Attach a floral pick to seven or nine dried husks and add them to your bridal arrangement. The beige of the dried husks will add a soft, mellow contrast to the rich colors of fall flowers you have selected.
If you prefer, the dried corn husks can be used at the base of your bouquet with the flowers arranged in the center. The pale shade of the husks is the perfect background to accent the brilliant burgundies and golds of fall's floral bounty.
As an added accent to your bouquet, look no further than the oak tree on your own front lawn. Select acorns complete with caps from your yard or a nearby park. Firmly secure the cap to the nut with a drop of hot glue. Shellac the acorns and allow them to dry. Once the acorns are dry, attach to floral picks and scatter them throughout your bouquet as another image of the harvest season.
Whether you create your own floral arrangements and bouquets yourself, get a helping hand from family and friends or pay a florist to create your special fall arrangements, your options are unlimited. Let your imagination run wild and see what creative and uniquely clever ideas you can add to your bouquet to enhance your wedding and make it your own.
