With the economy in the fragile state that it is in these days many people feel grateful to have a job at all, even if their jobs are ones they do not like. Other people are so dissatisfied with their jobs that gratitude is the last feeling they get when they go to their workplaces. Despite the fact that unemployment is high, there are many legitimate reasons for quitting your job and if these reasons addressed in this article apply to your situation then you should take action.
Low Pay
Most people work because they need money to pay their bills, and to purchase food, clothing and provide an education for themselves and their families. If your current job pays you a salary or hourly wage that does not help you with achieving your goals such as eventually buying a home or putting yourself or your child through school, then it is time to leave that job and seek a better opportunity. Staying in a job that does not pay well will take up your time that you could be spending in a new job that pays you what you feel you are worth. Correct this situation by upgrading your skills or doing whatever is necessary to find a better job.
Stressful environment
Every person has a different definition of what is stressful for them. Some people find it stressful to work in a place where there are many supervisors micromanaging their subordinates and who are looking for any excuse to fire someone in cost cutting measures to save the company some money. Having too many people in management controlling your every move is very stressful and can make an employee feel like a robot. Working under the close eye of management on a continual basis is not ideal for many people and if that type of work environment doesn’t work for you then it is best to look elsewhere. Perhaps you should consider becoming your own boss or working in a place where there is minimal if any supervision.
Discrimination
If there is clear discrimination being shown to you or anyone else at your place of employment due to race, religion, gender, age or weight, then you should leave and don’t look back. Besides being against the law, discrimination benefits no one and if you stay too long in a company where discrimination is prevalent, you will regret not standing up for your rights and leaving sooner.
Boredom
If you feel bored at your current job then it is time to go. Nothing is worse than staying at a job you don’t like anymore just because of the “benefits” or “security” that comes along with the job. Many employees have learned the hard way that no job is secure and benefits are subject to being changed. No job is worth putting up with feelings of boredom and lack of inspiration.
Every person should be able to love their jobs. While it is true that even the best jobs have some disadvantages, a person should feel well suited to their job and be able to love their job in spite of the disadvantages. Too many people stay in a job they detest for longer than they should and that is very sad because unhappiness at your job can affect every facet of your life, including your relationships and finances. Relationships and finances help keep us going and give us better options and direction in life. Do not be afraid of the current state of the economy to make changes in your life because the economy WILL change; it always fluctuates. If you have been offered a better job or are hoping to get a better job, take every opportunity you can to change your current job situation so that you will never have to feel dissatisfied with your job again.
