My wall is high and wide.
It towers over me, causing the shadow
to be cast over my life
The wall was built up slowly
over years
keeping my soul safe from pain
Keeping people away
who might get too close
Protection
Safety
loneliness.
Sometimes the cold stone
of my wall
carries with it terror and longing to escape
But people have long stopped
trying to get past my wall.
I see them from a distance
And cannot seem to change that.
No matter
how much I long to.
My wall stretches high above me,
An obstacle so big
leaving me no choice
but to continue living
in its shadow
