Poetry: Being a mother

by J. D. Stone

Created on: September 03, 2010

Being a mother is more than just training your child, loving your child, or disciplining your child.

Being a mother also means allowing your child to teach you, love you, and remind you of the values you’ve held close to your heart throughout your life.

Being a mother means growing in yourself as a person, and finding out who you are as a mother, as a woman, as a friend, as a daughter, and as a sister.

Being a mother means being able to distinguish yourself as an individual while still making your child and your role as a mother part of who you are as a whole.

Being a mother may close some doors but it opens those doors only visible to those with a child that loves them for exactly who they are.

Being a mother reminds you of what it is that makes you treasure your role in humanity. Being a mother finds the new you and makes her shine.

Being a mother helps you find the music within and write the symphony that defines your life.
