Here's an easy way to reduce waste, save money, and participate in the recycling of a non-biodegradable item. At my home, my wife and I have been using the clear plastic bags from the clothing we get back from the professional cleaners to line the waste containers in several rooms of our home. By tying a knot in the end of the plastic bag that the hook of the hangers goes through, you can form kitchen size plastic waste bags that will save you about 5 cent per container.
We have anywhere from 6 to 8 wastebaskets throughout the home, at a nickel per bag, times 8, it would yield $.40 per week, times 52 weeks we would save approximately $21 per year. If just 1 million households would participate in this little experiment, $21 million could be accumulated and spent for other worthwhile expenses like college education, health insurance, Chinese for two, etc. Waste is reduced by the total number of plastic bags replaced by recycling the cleaner bags, thus reducing the amount in landfills. Mother earth would thank you and maybe shine a little more sunlight your way for your garden. Don't you think! Smile! Peace!
