Why write?
OmObs and other acronyms
That's why.
Someone once told me to start a blog. This one’s for you…
This seems like a good place to start, I suppose. Not knowing what to write about, but advised (at least) where to begin (blogspot.com). I’m thinking out loud (typing), so you’re right here with me in the process.
Odd how we can speak directly to someone, when they’re not even in the same room – or town – as we are.
A title would be the most reasonable point in which to jump off… An unusual combo of letters might well be an attention grabber (the ol’ advertising headline trick). Off the top of my head, I decided to name this first attempt “Omiatek Observations” (my maiden name, plus a catchy word for the subject matter – reflections), something sounding unknown, to stand out as unique. I guess, just like I want to in real life. But for now, we’re just concentrating on paper.
Grabbing attention, with all of the AADD, needs to be snappy. Remembering the editor’s tenet – cut every other word - Gotta shorten the title. But, having only two words, let’s cut out the clutter of letters. OmOb – better.
Now, we’re getting somewhere.
Second step, is to go with it, let it flow, what comes to mind? More acronyms to work in without getting too cute. BTW, in 1943, “acr- + -onym” was the first known usage of the word. Similar to “initialism” (an abbreviation formed from initial letters), first used in 1899 and different from “initial”, originating from the Latin for beginning, “initium”, used first in 1526. But we’re hovering around the same meanings, more or less.
Did you realize that ATM to us “old folks” signifies a bank’s “automatic teller machine” and doesn’t dawn on us that it’s “at this moment” for the “new generation’s” texting. My how things have changed – yet stayed the same (by using reviving adaptative acronyms).
Is there such a thing as a “homonym acronym”, HA! Funny how we can discover things. HA-“HA”! (hmmmm… maybe Webster needs another new word)
That’s enough for now, just getting silly. At least, we have a start (a direction, a purpose, a title)… and it’s moving along. Naming it is a good beginning; I’ll get back to this later and figure out where it’s going. Forward thinking, maybe an idea will come to me. Looking back, I’m glad I took a minute to get it down on paper (computer).
Someone once told me to start a blog. This one’s for you. We don’t know what’ll come of it (or around it), but we do know (for sure), it’s all about the process.

I wrote this book just for fun

It has been said that work is best,
when flowing from the heart,
To slowly die through daily test,
shows life has yet to
My reason for writing
Is to share what I know
To make my mind grow
I write to entertain
Writing is my way
Of staying sane
