By the time you start to prepare the things you are going to take to college, you are probably so excited that you're anxious to get to campus. While you will probably have no trouble remembering to bring your favorite clothes, your iPod, cell phone and other "must have" items, there are many other things that are equally important, and many of those things are not at all obvious. Remembering to bring those extra things will ensure that you are prepared for any kind of situation you might face while living on campus or in a shared apartment.
Here is a look at things you will need to bring to college and things you might forget.
*An external USB hard drive -
If you are going to be using a Netbook instead of a traditional laptop, don't forget that you don't have any type of optical drive on the Netbook. An external USB hard drive will allow you to back up all of your academic work so that you will still have it if something should happen to your computer. You can use it as a backup system if you're using a laptop anyway.

You will also want to have a robe and some slippers so you can put them on in a flash if you're living in the dorm because dorms often have fire drills in the middle of the night. This is to ensure that people are prepared for any real fire should something that unfortunate happen.
*Paper prescriptions -
You probably won't forget to bring medication, but you may not realize that once those medications run out, getting refills will be rather hard unless you have your doctor write new prescriptions for you. You will then be able to take the prescription to any local pharmacy, and if you need to be seen at the campus health service, you'll have the prescriptions to show the health care workers there.
*Software -
You aren't likely to forget a laptop or a printer, but it's pretty easy to forget to bring important software. Besides that, you will probably figure you'll never have to worry about reloading anything. You will definitely want to bring a disc for Microsoft Word because you'll
