There are many issues that can hinder an employees performance, however; the biggest hindrance is weak leadership. The areas discussed here are things leaders need to do effectively to help employees avoid hindrances. The leader is the catalysts that can help employees overcome hinderances. Those who learn accountability, delegation, follow up and feedback will produce successful employees.
Some major factors that hinder employees performance is accountability, delegation, follow up and feedback. As managers we can allow complacency to set in like rigor mortis through out the organization. When we don't challenge employees to perform at a high level on a consistent basis they will not be challenged by osmosis. Employees can become very good a performing certain tasks but when they are not pushed and motivated it can impact the productivity of your company. The leader of the organization must create a high performance, continuous learning and continuousimprovement environment for employees to grow and develop. There are many self motivated professionals who do a good job but it is not their responsibility to be solely influenced by solo motivation. The leaders and mangers of the organization are responsible for motivating employees, recognizing their ability and work to help them reach their potential.
In my experience as a manager there is nothing more important than accountability. An employee is seriously hindered when there is no accountability for their actions and/or performance. After time there is no incentive to performat ones best if ones average or worse is never confronted. The big problem is that the unproductive thrives and survives while the productive employee begins to lose their personal drive to perform at a high level consistently. If there is a lack of accountability a culture of mediocrity is soon to follow.
A great tool for leaders is delegation. The ability to delegate empowers the leader and the employee. It allows you to show the employee that you acknowledge their ability and it provides the opportunity for them to develop new skills, confidence and training. Delegation exposes and prepares the employee to get a glimpse of what it will be like on the next level. Also delegation provides the chance to strengthen your working relationships. Employees are hindered when there is little or poor delegation because there isno sense of urgency, lack of competence and a us versus them attitude
