Prevention is the best, natural remedy for the migraine headache.

The migraine, a very common malady, is a dull or severely painful and debilitating headache accompanied by throbbing, nausea, concentration and speech issues and a severe sensitivity to light and sound. These symptoms are indicative of a severe migraine at its worst peak. There are a multitude of symptoms, triggers and aura findings, in reference to this particular type of headache. Each of these is as different as the individual suffering.

Migraines are noted to occur in predominately females and are thought to be genetic. In the past physicians and scientists believed that migraines were caused by changes in the blood vessels within the brain. However, modern medical professionals now hold the belief that the migraine begins in the brain itself, with involvement of the nerve pathways and chemicals changes. These changes within the brain affect the blood flow within the brain and surrounding tissues.

The aura is often a visual disturbance; blurring or loss of vision being the most severe, light tracking or foggy sight have been described, as well.

An individual’s triggers are usually as consistent as the aura. Diet and lack of rest, as with any illness, are prominent triggers. Whether the dietary triggers are indicative of allergy or not is uncertain. Other diet choices are culprits, as well, with sufferers finding relief with the removal of the items from their diet. Alcohol, tobacco
