Mega Man Zero 4 is right now the final game of the series. There have been no plans whatsoever. In fact, it could be argued that it would have to be considered an actual ending to the series. This one is different form the others in that there is no Mega Man X appearing or any of the Four Guradians. Omega was destroyed and never to be seen again. There hasn’t been a new one. It was made for the Game Boy Advance and also is apart of the Mega Man Zero Collection.
The plot in this one involves the humans leaving Neo Arcadia due to the presence of Dr. Weil. He has taken over and completely ruined it for them. Their fallen hero, Copy X, had been killed by Weil. He did fight Zero but it wasn’t Zero who ultimately killed him in the end. It was all part of a plot to destroy the world. He is human and was one who had gained his reinstatement to the area. He has eight warriors out lead by Commander Craft to destroy everything but Neo Arcadia. Zero has to save the day and also to gain the trust of humans as well.
The difference with this game unlike the others would have the introduction of the Z-Knuckle. The item is used to grab weapons making it easier than it can be in order to perform some tasks. There are also some EX Skills to be obtained. Going even further, there would also be the use of possibly using a Cyber-Elf system that could power up the elves. It’s rather interesting and different than anything else in the past. It would be like saying it has gone as far as it could but just wanting to go in a completely different direction in that regard.
The game play is challenging but probably maybe one of the easier games in the series. Unlike the other games, this one has all the boss battles for the regular ones. It has a mid-level area to go to in order to complete it. That is a bit different but has been done before in the Mega Man X Series notably with X4 as an example. You can get different weapons, make new items, and also power up the cyber-elf but don’t max anything out, otherwise, there is a penalty. It has a weather changing system that can alter a stage making it either easier or harder depending upon the circumstance.
For this one, it actually is a good game. There is a conclusion to the series and just seems like there isn’t much else to do with it. While the game play hasn’t changed too dramatically from the previous Mega Man Zero games, it is satisfying to play it from beginning to end. Sure, there are some challenges but what’s wrong with having some new challenges coming into the mix.
