I had never felt the way I felt with you in my arms, before

I have never cried the way I cried, when you walked slowly out that door

I never knew that love could bring so much pain

It feels like being hit in the heart with a ton of rain

So when I lay my head tonight, there's one thing I just can't do

I can't keep dreaming of you

It's like a window without a view

A dark night without a light

A bird incapable of flight

It hurts enough to remember

Our fire faded to embers

So I can't keep dreaming of you

I remember what you said, that night on the phone

You said you couldn't do this anymore, that you're as good as gone

You said you didn't love me, and hung up the phone

You left me sitting there crying all alone

I can't keep dreaming of you

I have better things to do

I need to get on with my life

And find someone new

So girl it's plain to see, I just can't keep dreaming of you.
