Poetry: Death of a parent

by newby

Created on: August 31, 2010

Mindful colours of billowing greys
Dredge through my head in saddening ways
Restless and worrisome troublesome too.
Reminiscence of time when I last saw you

We bade farewell with a smile and a wave,
If only I'd known it was the last that you gave.
The colour from grey is now darkened to black
Oh how I wish I could turn the clock back.

The horrors of death I suppose have diminished
But not with the love which I always will cherish.
White now is the only colour I see,
A blank empty nothingness inside of me.

Perhaps given time, with sunshine and fun,
The colours will mingle and start to run.
And the memory of death will vanish from view,
But I always, yes always, will remember you.
