Movie reviews: Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Created on: August 30, 2010

Jason Segel is a comic genius.  Well, at least you may think that after you watch him in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.  Perhaps one of the best comedies in the last ten years this movie will take any bad day and turn it into a new direction the same way Peter Bretter goes through a metamorphosis of a break up gone bad but then better then really bad and then finally okay.

Written by Jason Segel Forgetting Sarah Marshall is a movie for anyone that has gone through that tough romantic break up.  Whether you were the giver of the break up or the receiver of that said break up make sure you watch this movie. Wait! It is recommended you watch this twice before thinking of such a terrible act especially to a man named Peter Bretter.

Peter Bretter is your everyday music composure turned score writer for the hottest crime TV show on television who fell in love with the co-star of the show, non other than the one and only Sarah Marshall, Kristen Bell.  After a five year relationship Sarah has her eye on the biggest ballad sex rocker in the world Aldous Snow played by everyone's favorite twisted Brit, Russel Brand.  Not really known for his genuine side, Aldous is a mix between Keith Richards and Bo Bice from American Idol.

Regardless Peter becomes the poor soul that must see his famous girlfriend run off to paradise with a man that he sees as the biggest douche on the planet.  In an attempt to help forget Sarah, Peter plans a trip to the one place everyone goes to find new romance Hawaii. However, once Peter makes it to his solo vacation to try to forget Sarah, whom else is there but Sarah and the douche himself Aldous.

In comes sweet mild and very spicy Mila Kunis, Rachel, as the girl that wants to help poor old Peter, who now has become the biggest sap on the island.  Even the locals begin to feel bad for this guy with one thing on his mind forgetting Sarah Marshall.  You see the locals become Peter's therapist, yet Paul Rudd as a surfer instructor; who has smoked way to much marijuana in his day, is hardly the best advice giver at this given time for Peter.  Also Jonah Hill, as Mathew the waiter, is more man crazy about his rock idol Aldous than helping out poor old Peter.

Furthermore, Rachel becomes the savior and rescues Peter from his sever depression much the same way the men from the Runaway Bride must feel every time she jets away from the alter.  Nevertheless, this is not one simple task of getting over someone, this is Peter Bretter a man not shy of showing not only his feelings, but his man zone as well.  Even Rachel must work extra hard to help Peter get over his most famous girlfriend and the transformation is not an easy one, hence it is why you must see this movie.

In closing Kristen Wig plays the best yoga instructor ever and Bill Hader brings down the era of video phones. Don't miss Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
