Who would not want to celebrate their wedding amidst the outside panoramas of the Fall? Emerald leaves give way to a canopy of gold and russet, while rich sunshine beams down on a perfect Fall wedding. At nightfall, the harvest moon shows its face, and the sky is decked with stars.
However, an outdoor wedding at this time benefits hugely from forward planning. Many brides bemoan the fact that the only thing they cannot book for their wedding day is the weather. All they can do is be prepared for any eventuality.
Rainfall Roulette
As Fall approaches, rainfall can often increase. It's impossible to guarantee blue skies for your wedding, so having a plan for rain can make your big day go smoothly, whatever the weather.
Make sure that there is provision for shelter not only at the ceremony (if outdoors) but at the reception. Marquees rental can be an excellent way to keep your guests dry, or alternatively choosing a venue with a spectacular garden or landscape, as well as wonderful indoor facilities can mean the best of both worlds for you and your guests.
Do not forget the journey from the ceremony to the reception. If both are held within the same building, then the risk of getting caught in a downpour is minimal. However, even getting from the car door to the front hall of your venue can leave any ill-prepared guests drenched and miserable.
Why not give your guests umbrellas to match your theme? Not only could they come in useful, but they can also double up as part of the wedding favors and provide them with a souvenir of your big day that remains useful for years to come.
Tumbling Temperatures
Another potential problem with a Fall wedding being held outdoors is making sure both yourself and your guests stay comfortably warm. Patio heaters are a safe, non-flammable alternative to fire-pits, and are more likely to be allowed by your venue. Spaced correctly, these can increase the ambient temperature significantly.
Additionally, consider the warmth of the weather when choosing your drinks. White wine is wonderful during a hot summer, but red, served at room temperature, can be more effective in the Fall.
If your reception carries on into the evening, why not consider hot alcoholic beverages, such as mulled wine or coffee liquor as after-dinner drinks. This, coupled with a full stomach, can really make your guests glow.
Photographer Fun
