The Wayward Son
The wayward son reaches out
And clings foolishly to straws;
He lies about his own doubts,
But Truth's eyes can see his flaws.
Such a costume that he wears
To disguise his failing bones!
What useless pain and care
He takes to hide what is known!
His boasts are loud and many
To drown out his hunger pains,
And he frets about a penny,
While he ignores true gain.
He worries 'bout tomorrow
Deep within his troubled heart
And is filled with such sorrow
That poisons each bodily part.
He tries to keep his fears at bay
Through his very own deception,
But come the big Judgment Day,
He'll face God's wrath and rejection.
If only he would turn back
And glimpse Christ's mercy and love,
He could leave his rundown shack
For a mansion up above!

HIS EYES
Eyes looked upon Me as I walked my own way,

The author of my salvation
The lifeguard's saving rope
The answer to every question
The source of all our hope
Is all in
I walked in the valley of my life, afraid and unsure,
As gray skies covered me from direction to direction,
And black mountains
