Oscar and Golden Globe winner Jennifer Hudson has dramatically dropped five dress sizes and an estimated 50lb since the birth of her first baby with fiance, David Otunga, last August, and she looks nothing short of amazing.
In less than a year 28-year-old Hudson has gone from a size 16 to a size 6 with the help of Weight Watchers. The key to Jennifer's success is that she has found an eating plan that fits into her hectic lifestyle and doesn’t deprive her of anything. Hudson says, “I can follow the plan no matter where I am, still enjoy my favourite foods and even use the iPhone app to track my points.” As well as the new eating regime, Jennifer has also been exercising regularly, sometimes hitting the gym five times a week.
Hudson has come an awful long way since her days as the ‘Big Girl’ on American Idol. Although Hudson was voted off midway through the show no-one was in any doubt that she was going to resurface and, sure enough, she was contacted a few months later by a casting agency about the part of Effie –weight-challenged lead singer of the Supremes – in the movie Dreamgirls. The role won her rave reviews, a Golden Globe and an Oscar.
Since Dreamgirls, Hudson has followed up her movie career with performances in Sex and The City and The Secret Life of Bees, and has also released a self-titled album. She has regularly been singled out as a good example of a healthy plus sized body type and proof that you don’t have to be stick thin to make it in showbiz.
Jennifer did, of course, put weight on when she was pregnant. And although it wasn't a huge amount it was still enough to give her a start when she saw a photo of herself ‘post baby’. “I didn’t realise it was me, she said. “I was like, ‘Who?... Oh, my God, this is me.’ And now when I look back, wow, look at the difference from then to now.”
Jennifer is so happy with the results she has achieved with Weight Watchers that she recently signed on to be the company’s spokesperson and unveiled a new national campaign at a press conference in New York. She has, however, assured her fans that she has no intention of becoming a ‘lollipop head’. "I don't want to lose any more weight, and you're never going to see me skinny, I think this is a good, natural size for me. “
Hudson says that although she has always been happy with her curvaceous figure after she gave birth to her son she felt like she wanted to take control of her body and her eating habits and says that this is a, “lifestyle change...it's not a diet, it's really a way of living that teaches you better skills.”
Weight Watchers offers a number of different diet plans, each one based upon the principle of making smart choices about food. The foundations of Weightwatchers are based upon; an integrated approach emphasizing good eating choices, adopting healthy habits, a supportive environment and exercise, a sensible plan to help you lose weight at a healthy rate plus the knowledge and info you need to help you keep it off for good, and a time-tested approach informed by analyzing years of scientific studies.
