In understanding the concept of the trinity, it is best not to focus too much on the actual doctrine, but rather focus upon the verses that prove the doctrine to be true.
The trinity did not just get made up for no reason, the people who saw God this way saw him this way because of verses like the following.
Matt 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"
2 Cor 13:14 "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all."
They are two that mention three parts, but why not just say that there are three, instead of 3 persons in one ? Well these verses are also in the bible.
Isaiah 44:6 "Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: "I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god."
John 5:44 "How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?"
The Trinity is a concept that was formed through trying to take all of God's word seriously, as we should. I believe the trinity is true because there are many hints of a trinitarian God in many verses in the bible, not just the ones above. Hints that there are 3 persons in the one God. Each fully God, and yet each different.
I have no problem with the word Trinity not being in the bible, as there are plenty of words used to describe concepts in the bible that are not used in the bible.
I also have no problem believing that God's nature is so complex, after all, he is God, the maker and creator of all that is in existence.
the trinity is a true doctine and a necessary one in understanding the bible and christianity correctly.
