Homemade food gifts are some of the most fun to receive and the most fun to give. Homemade food gifts are something to be treasured.
Chili in a Jar is a lot of fun. It is fun to decorate a quart jar by painting peppers on the outside of the jar. Then on the bottom of the jar put the spices that will be needed for a pot of chili. Then layer the jar with different types of beans. Use a piece of material that you cut out with decorator scissors and then put it on with the jar ring, this is the lid. Type up the directions for the chili, cut that out with decorator scissors and attach them to the jar with a ribbon. This makes a great meal and a great gift.
Hot Cocoa in a Homemade Mug is a great gift for friends or for kids to give to their teachers. Go to a ceramic shop and make some ceramic mugs. Then buy hot cocoa in a packet, put it in the mugs with a ribbon around it and it makes a really neat gift. You can also give the same gift using a store bought mug and tying a ribbon around it.
Biscuit and Jam in a Jar is a fun gift. Put biscuit mix in a decorated jar, cut out a piece of cloth with decorator scissions, put that on with a jar ring for a lid. Then type the direction for the biscuits on a piece of paper, cut out with decorator scissors and tie that to the jar. A jar of homemade jam or jelly can be given with this gift to make it extra special.
Cookies in a Jar is another jar gift that is fun. Use the same directions for the lid and directions. For the cookies put the ingredients in layers to make it look more decorative. Then when tying the instructions to the jar add a cookie cutter or two.
Dipped Spoons are fun too. Buy some spoons and dip them in candy mold. Irish cream is delicious. Then they can be used to stir coffee. This can also go with the hot cocoa gift or in a cookie basket.
Cookie Baskets are old time favorite homemade food gifts. Bake several different types of cookies. Then take a plate or wicker basket and cover it in pretty material or paper. Put wax paper over the cloth. Arrange the cookies in an attractive way. Cover with saran wrap and tie on a ribbon. Almost everyone loves to get cookies as a gift.
Almost any homemade gift can be special made for someone with diabetes. Just make the food according to diabetic recipes and add the same finishing touches as you would to the non-diabetic gifts. Homemade food gifts have a special sentiment to them and are gifts that are always worth giving.
