Since voices and sounds were recorded, some brilliant mind was there to exploit that voice. Bell did it with the telephone, and now everyone has a phone in their pocket. Since the inception of pop music so long ago, producers and investors have jumped at the chance to milk a phenomenon for all it's worth and then drop it in the gutter and let it rot away.

I present for your example Danny Bonaduce, Shawn Cassidy, David Cassidy, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson and the great Prince Of Pop Has-Beens Leif Garrett (I leave out the Osmonds because they are still trying). They were all famous. They all had their fifteen minutes of fame, and they all petered out or did something so uniquely stupid that they were never given another chance of being more than a "C" list has-been. Sure David Cassidy tried to fight back to have some sort of career, but alas once you have graced the cover of Tiger Beat Magazine, you career is definitely on a kitchen timer.

So enter the new age of technology and the Internet. MySpace and Youtube have proved to be a venue of introduction for every Tom, Dick and Joe suck in the world who thinks they have something construed as talent. I am not a huge fan of Taylor Swift, but after seeing her in concert, I can honestly say the girl has musical talent and writing ability. Her singing might not be the best, but the versatility of her songs and lyrics has opened a door for her that her talent will able to keep open for a very long time.

Every once in a while though, one faux gem emerges from the sand and muck to prove to the world that something that has a little glitter can fool everyone into thinking it is a diamond. Case and point: Justin Bieber, The Current King Of Suck. Bieber started out on Youtube growing a cult following of 8 to 13 year old girls who drop down crying on the ground because he has a cute haircut. This market of fan looks past the part that he is unable to sing very well, his songs lack any substance or musical sustainability, and he obviously can not dance very well either.

Although concert reviews for the current king show positive, these reviews are driven by a fan base that is the most catered to demographic in the country, funded by parents who will grant anything their little princess desires. Virtually Shawn Cassidy all over again. Who you say? That's exactly my point. Bieber like Cassidy should enjoy his time in the limelight or at least sit down with Leif Garrett and have a long talk about what to do when the next Internet sensation comes along.

The truth is that the Internet has made it possible for ANYBODY to post a video from their phone, computer, Netbook or Ipad. So while this barely talented little boy, who would never have gotten an audition on America's Got Talent, much less American Idol, enjoys his chance of showing home videos of himself as a baby singing his ABC's... as he gets a little older, he will have to prove that he actually has some talent of his own or is he just another Tiffany. Although I am not a fan of the Jonas Brothers, I can honestly say they have talent and can put on a good show. They aren't just a haircut and a smile. Look out Justin, as your fans get older and start spending their own money, they will be a little more picky about where it goes.
