Among Muslim families, the name Muhammad is much desirable and preferable among all other names, for Muhammad is the name of their last prophet whom they love more than their own dear life.
No Muslim's faith is complete unless he loves his prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) more than anything else even his own life. This is nothing but pure love for the prophet (S.A. W). The name Muhammad was unheard and uncommon in Arabia at the time of the birth of the prophet (S.A.W). His grand father Abdul Mutlib named him Muhammad. Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be upon him) was an epitome and a paragon of all ethical and moral qualities. He was kind, honest, trustworthy, truthful and pious to the core. He was loving husband, an affectionate father, a disciplinarian, generous, hospitable, kind and affable person and courteous to every one who came into his contact. He had a pleasing and winsome personality. Even his enemies had no choice but to praise him because of his compelling good qualities.
Muslims in all over the world consider the life of Muhammad (Peace be upon him) as perfect role model for them and try their utmost to follow his sunnah in their day-to-day affairs. Given their deep love and great devotion for their prophet (Peace be upon him), they are very much interested in naming their children after him, considering it as a great blessing and fortune for them and their children.

They consider themselves fortunate and try their best to respect this name by performing good deeds and following the sunnah of the prophet (Peace be upon him) in letter and spirit.
