Big Brother is probably the most popular reality TV show for Summer 2010 as this is, allegedly, the final show in the series. The Big Brother reality show lasts two months and contestants are filmed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Serious addicts of the show can even tune into TV at night to watch their heroes sleeping! It's amazing that such a trivial show became so popular across Europe, as the principal attraction seems to be watching the contestants slowly deteriorate mentally and furthermore, hopefully become sexually active with each other.
X Factor resumed showing in August and has four judges for this show. The X Factor show really looks tired and towards the end of its run now though, particularly when compared to the new show, Must be the Music on Sky 1. Must be the Music is innovative and offers a number of different types of performers their opportunity for stardom. The judges are not condescending and the judging format is far better than the boring format adopted by shows such as X Factor. Performances include classical pianists and performers to singer/songwriters performing their own original works. All in all Must be the Music is definitely one of the best reality shows for Summer 2010.
Teenage girls will be watching the Britain's Next Top Model show in fascination. This competitionf has only recently transferred on to the UK television format. The UK version is hosted by Australian ex supermodel Elle Macpherson. The benefit of shows like this are not the aspirational aspects but the fact that the aspiring models are seen in all guises - with and without make up. It's feasible that young girls begin to recognize that beauty and good looks are often secondary to personality and character. Furthermore, the shows do provide tips and hints regarding dress, style and make up which are invaluable for developing young women.
In conclusion, the show Must be the Music is probably the best reality show in Britain for Summer 2010 and it will be interesting to see how the final winner fares against the winner of this year's X Factor. The Britain's Next Top Model show provides a learning environment for teenage girls wishing to find out about style and beauty and learn the ropes of the modelling business. Big Brother appeals to viewers of all age groups and this is probably the reason the format is so popular.
