Recipes: Spring rolls

You can make a spring roll just like you get at the asian restaurants and even better.  Just follow this recipe for the most delicious spring roll ever!

You will need the following ingredients:

one tablespoon oil

one half pound or one cup of your choice meat, either ground chicken, pork, or beef

one half cup of finely chopped onions

one half teaspoon of garlic salt

three cups of fresh bean sprouts

one tablespoon of your favorite brand soy sauce

eight sheets of egg roll wrappers

one teaspoon of cornstarch

one tablespoon of water

Get all of your ingredients together and organized.  Then put oil into a frying pan and place onion in the oil.  Heat and fry until the onion is soft.  Stir in the meat of your choice along with the garlic salt and soy sauce.  Cook until browned.  Add the fresh bean sprouts and drain any excess liquid.  Discard the excess liquid.  Pets tend to enjoy the excess liquids on their food although some pet nuts may say it's not healthy.  Cool the filling.  Spoon about a third cup of the filling onto the lower half of each one of the egg roll wraps. 

Mix cornstarch with water and use this to moisten the edges of the wrap.  Fold the bottom edge up just enough to cover the filling.  Then fold the left side and right sideabout a half inch toward the center.  Be sure to moisten each edge of the wrap with the cornstarch mixture and then roll it up and seal it. 

Deep fry the rolls in hot oil.  The temperature of the oil should be about 375 degrees.  Cook them until they are golden brown.  This will take between two to four minutes.  Drain them on papertowels and let cool.  Serve them warm with sweet and sour sauce or mustard or ketchup.  This will make eight spring rolls.
