Makoto Nanaya, one of the DLC characters recently released for BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is a very rewarding character to play. While her advanced game is still being developed by players, the basics of playing Makoto are covered in this guide.
Note: Directional instructions in this guide are given based on the positions of numbers on a keyboard's number pad. For instance, “6” means “forward” and “2” means “down.” Here's a reference:

Makoto's Drives: Impact
Makoto's Drives are unique to her character. While holding down the Drive button, an impact guage appears in your portion of the screen by the heat guage. It goes from 1 up to 2 and 3 and then back down again to 2 and 1. If you release the Drive button while the guage is at a higher number, the attack's power increases and the knockback also becomes stronger. In this way, Makoto can traverse half a screen with her 2D when fully-charged. When charged to level 3, all of Makoto's Drives are both a fatal counter and break one guard primer.
When fully-charged, Makoto's Drives
All of Makoto's Distortion Drives also have impact guages. Big Bang Smash (632146D) has increased range for each number the guage goes up.
Makoto's Special Moves
Comet Canon: 236A
Comet Canon is useful both as part of an okizeme game and in approaching the opponent. Can be launched with a Drive attack; range of launch depends on impact guage level. Makoto can only use Comet Canon if a Comet Canon orb is not currently in play.
Corona Upper: 6323C
Corona Upper is a useful uppercut for ending combos and can also be used in the air. It's fast, but has dangerous recovery time on block, so don't use it haphazardly. If the attack hits, you can follow up with a Drive attack that can be charged with the impact guage. It slams the opponent into the ground.
Asteroid Vision: 214A/B/C
Asteroid Vision is a clever attack that allows Makoto to charge at the opponent at three height levels: on the ground, midair, and high in the air. You can cancel Asteroid Vision by pressing A, after which you can use Makoto's special Asteroid Vision Drive, Shooting Star. Pressing B will move Makoto behind the opponent, but is easy to counter. Pressing C will throw Makoto into a Lunatic Upper, after which you can press A, B, C, or D for different follow-up attacks depending on the situation. Pressing D during Makoto's B or C version of Asteroid Vision allows for a Drive attack for massive damage.
