If you want to prevent cockroaches from invading your home, you must do the following steps. Clean up and dispose of all remaining food. Do not leave any lying around. Wash all dishes on a timely basis. Garbage must be brought out nightly. Do not keep cardboard boxes or brown paper bags in the house either, since cockroaches like to live and lay eggs in them. After every meal make sure that all counter tops are washed with warm, sudsy water and that they and the sponge used are dried thoroughly. Cockroaches are attracted to warm, damp places. Make sure that all cracks and counter tops are sealed properly with a silicon sealant. Occasionally vacuum cracks and seal them to prevent cockroach migration. All drawers, shelves and bins need to be occasionally washed with warm, sudsy water and dried. Finally placing some boric acid in areas where you've seen them. You'll find that they will not cross that boric acid line.
