“Step Up” was the first film in this series and think it is one of the stronger films in this genre. “Step Up 2: The Streets” was a typical dance film and now “Step Up 3D” is gracing our cinema screens.
Step Up 3D is everything you would expect from a film based around dancers. You get an unbelievably predictable storyline, some great dancers trying to pass as actors and a bit of a feel good message all wrapped into one. Its average as dance films go and pretty poor as a normal film, but I didn’t expect anything else.
We are introduced first to one of the main characters “Moose” who was actually in the second film. He is starting college with his best friend Camille (she was in the first film) having now left high school and Moose joins a dance group called “The house of pirates” after meeting their leader Luke and his gang of street dancing friends. Camille is obviously in love with Moose but they are just friends as he doesn’t know about her feelings.
Luke meets Natalie, a random girl who he convinces to join the crew also as she is a great dancer. Both are single and good looking.
Natalie has a brother who used to be in the “House of Pirates” dance group but got kicked out. He now has his own dance crew, who are competing in the World Jam Dance Contest along with the pirates, where there is a cash prize for winning, which just so happens to be enough to perfectly cover the debt that Luke has on his warehouse where him and the rest of the dance crew all live!
Now if you can’t work out exactly what happens down to the smallest detail, then you have probably never seen one of these films before or any romcom ever.

The pirates fall out the day before the contest, which of course they win when they realise what friendship is etc. Luke and Natalie get together, fall out after finding out she is a spy for her brother, then get back together after Natalie tells him she started as a spy but then fell in love with him and the crew and dances with them to win the competition. Moose and Camille realise they should be together, the prize money pays for everything perfectly, no one gets made homeless and they all live happily ever after....Never would have guessed it would you?!
""END OF SPOILERS""
Now the acting in this film was actually ok compared to what I was expecting. I won’t bother
