Overcoming obstacles with perseverance and faith

When people look at themselves, they see the strongholds, the weaknesses and faults which continually beset them; things that sometimes seem impossible to ever overcome.

We may have even given up trying. Yet what we tend to not see is that it's not about what I can do to change things, but what God will do with my cooperation and faith.

When we recognize the areas that seem to hold us captive and ask Him to change us and heal us, He answers this request by using these very weakness and faults as opportunities for believers to get it right, to experience the victory that's theirs already.

God's Word (the scriptures) shows everyone how to conduct themselves. It is up to God's people to implement it through obedience.

Your path becomes filled with such opportunities and challenges when you begin to seek God's help. Some might see as too hard or tempting to shy from or avoid, the same way King David's friends and family and fellow countrymen may have viewed the giant - Goliath.

Yet, the young David knew the power of Him in whom he believed and trusted.  He was fearless because He knew that God had his back.

In reality, these "giants" Christians face in life are not incidental misfortunes they must try to survive or shy away from, but rather - the very opportunity to overcome what they asked God to help them with in the first place.

Christians don't need to remain discouraged and wonder whether things will ever change, let alone - survive. There's opportunity and waiting challenges right in front of us, everyday. David didn't wait until he felt strong enough to face Goliath.

He jumped right in, and with the one small pebble he shot from his sling  at Goliath's head  ... and Goliath dropped. It wasn't anything but David's courageous faith and action (knowing that God backed Him) which killed this giant.

The time Christians spend on pondering the personal "giants" which 'appear' to rule and control them ... is wasted time and faithlessness. They don't need to stand around waiting for courage or strength.

Our God is our strength and courage and He is faithful to keep His promises and Word while we trust in and rely on Him.

Do you desire to know what it's like to overcome and walk in victory and know true freedom? Or are you satisfied to just remain the frail, errant human being you are, and settle for "this is as good as it gets?"

Is your faith really in Christ? Are you actively pursuing and maintaining your relationship with Him, or merely holding at
