Contact lenses with astigmatism

Contact lenses for astigmatism are designed specifically to help correct the curve of the eyes to reflect light without a problem. I have been using this type of contact lenses for the past few years, and highly recommend them. They have proven invaluable when driving at night or in adverse conditions, allowing the lights from oncoming traffic to bounce off my left shoulder instead of blinding me as streaks of light in front of my face.

Thinking that my problem would be solved by obtaining a stronger prescription, I went to my optometrist for an exam, who then surprised me by telling me my astigmatism had increased and my eye allergies had flared up. He recommended I try using Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism to treat both problems, which he explained would improve my overall vision, and prevent my eyes from drying out so I could avoid having further allergy symptoms.

At first, my eyes had to adjust to these new contact lenses. Since they are more breathable, it is not uncommon for some discomfort and eye redness during the first few days of wearing the lenses. When that happens to you, don't be alarmed or think you have pink eye! The best thing is to wear the lenses for short periods of time per day, gradually increasing the wearing time until your eyes are no longer sensitive or red. That should take about a week to clear up. Also keep in mind, that if you discontinue wearing the lenses for more than a few days before wearing them again, you will have to go through the readjustment period each time.

As soft lenses that need to be replaced bi-weekly, Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism contact lenses are more expensive than regular prescription lenses, but are worth the investment. Your safety and comfort are not worth sacrificing by scrimping on eye care! The next time you are considering new contact lenses for astigmatism, first talk to your optometrist about giving you a sample set to try before ordering a year's worth of the lenses. Or, if he/she allows you to obtain a free pair if you order through his/her office, you can save on shipping costs. Further cost savings can be found at http://www.acuvue.com/acuvue-d irect.htm, where Acuvue offers a payment plan to make it even easier for you to afford the lenses. Another place to order would be http://www.1800contacts.com/, where you can even receive various discounts, depending on their current promotions.
