I have gone round and round on this topic for many years now. The Sabbath is something I grew up thinking was reserved for Saturdays, and that a majority of the Christian world was erring in not keeping Saturday as the day of rest. It made sense that Saturday was Sabbath (since it literally means that in just about every language), and it is something that came from the Jews. Now, I'm no historian, but it always seemed to me that if the Jews were the ones to keep the Sabbath, yet rejected Jesus, it still meant they were correct in keeping Saturday sacred. But here is where I've often become confused: wherever there is talk about the early church, there is a question about whether the importance of Saturday worship is valid, or replaced with worshipping on Sunday (or even another day, determined by a personal preference).
For years, I had to listen to my fellow Christians of other denominations argue about the Sabbath being changed to Sunday when the new commandments from Jesus were given. I thought, what does that mean? Aren't the 10 commandments valid indefinitely? Aren't they what Jesus upheld? Doesn't that mean we as Christians aka "followers of Christ" have to do exactly what he did and believe as he did?
So while it at times has been pretty confusing, I've come away with a few thoughts that have forever changed my mind on switching over to Sunday worship. But, I admit, there is nothing completely 100% sure about how and when to worship God, so if I'm wrong, then I'll find out one day when I have the priviledge of being in his presence. But I won't be judged, because it's not like I'm willfully disobeying if I am following the bible the best way I know how. It only becomes a sin IF I know without a doubt that what I am doing is wrong and continue in that manner. To reject the truth is a grievous sin; so therefore I am not going to take part in trivial arguments - I'll leave that for the Pharisees. Instead, I live for Christ, so these are what I hold to be worth believing to put my mind at ease on when and how to worship the Lord:
1. Following Jesus. Jesus was who were as Christians are supposed to follow. What he said, we do. Never once did he mention having to worship on the Sabbath, but he did get upset when people were selling things in the temple, and he refused to be idle on the Sabbath when healing the sick. And when asked what commandments
