We all grew up with cook books starting with home economic classes in school and watching our parents flip through them just to come up with something different for dinner for a change but many of us have turned away from cook books and to websites.
Cook books can range in price and the really good ones by famous chefs are way too expensive and the cheap ones are rather repetitive in their methods and styles of cooking. Now the internet is so convenient and easily accessible for anyone and everyone. Even older generations are picking up on using computers not to mention facebook and starting their own groups.
On the world wide web, one can find about almost anything except for the "special" recipes that some famous chefs would want you to buy their books and subscribe to their channel or website to get. Other than that, one can find any recipe they want. Even if you don't know the name of the dish you want to cook, you can just search up a certain ingredient and something new might interest you into cooking it. It might also be simpler to prepare. How much more convenient can that be.
Almost everyone has a computer too and a computer does not take up as much space as books. Although there are many avid book collectors, many of us worry about space and cluttering up the room not to mention the amount of dust it collects with neglect over time. Using the computer, we can not only search for recipes but we can also bookmark pages or even copy and paste the recipes into word document for future references. This way, we ourselves can also create our own archive of recipes that we like to cook.
Having to flip through cook books just to find that one recipe we are looking for is also a waste of time; especially when we have many cook books in out collection. Having cook books spread out on the counter is also not the best. For one, it will get dirty easily and secondly, it might catch on fire if we are not careful. Recipes can now also be accessed using electronic gadgets. For the generation of today and possibly in the future, we will be rushing for time and it is more convenient to be looking for recipes on the go; knowing how long it would take to prepare as well as have some mental preparation on what steps to do first as well as possible last minute shopping on the way back.
